Litra AI (hereinafter "the Service") respects user privacy and is committed to protecting personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled in the Service.

2. Information We Collect

The Service may collect the following information.

• Account Information: Email address, username, etc.
• Usage Information: Search queries, search history, service usage data
• Technical Information: IP address, browser information, device information
• Payment Information: Credit card information (processed through the payment service provider Stripe)

3. Purpose of Information Use

Collected information is used for the following purposes.

• Provision and operation of the Service
• Provision of user support
• Service improvement and new feature development
• Investigation and response to violations of Terms of Service
• Sending important notifications
• Sending announcement emails about new features and tips (only to users who have opted in; you can unsubscribe anytime via the link in each email)
• Measuring the effectiveness of advertisements, and improving advertisements and the pages that introduce the Service

4. Information Sharing

We do not provide users' personal information to third parties except in the following cases.

• When the user has given consent
• When required by law
• When providing to contractors necessary for service provision (such as payment processing, or producing our website and advertisements)
• When necessary for the protection of human life, body, or property
• When sending to Google the information described in "6. Use of Cookies and Transmission of Information to External Services", to measure the effectiveness of advertisements

5. Use of External Services

The Service uses the following external services.

• Google: Account authentication (login via OAuth 2.0; only email address is obtained)
• OpenAlex / arXiv: Retrieval of academic paper data (metadata including paper titles, author names, affiliations, citation counts, etc.)
• OpenAI / Anthropic: AI processing (paper relevance evaluation, summary generation, search query translation, etc.)
• Stripe: Payment processing
• Google (Google Analytics and Google Ads): Analysis of how the Service is used, and measurement of the effectiveness of advertisements (the information sent is described in "6. Use of Cookies and Transmission of Information to External Services")

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. Please note that users' information may be stored on servers in the United States in connection with the use of these services. Academic paper metadata (author names, affiliations, etc.) obtained from OpenAlex / arXiv is public domain data under the CC0 license.

Search queries and paper data sent to OpenAI / Anthropic are not used for training AI models, in accordance with each company's API policies.

6. Use of Cookies and Transmission of Information to External Services

The Service uses cookies to improve user experience and enhance the Service. We also use Microsoft Clarity to analyze how users interact with the screen, such as click locations and scrolling behavior, to help improve the Service. Sensitive information such as search queries and AI chat input is automatically masked. We also store a random identifier in your browser so that activity before sign-in can be grouped per browser. This identifier contains no name or email address. If you arrive through an advertisement or similar link, we also record which campaign you came from, using the identifiers included in that link. Once you register, we link it to your activity before registration to improve the Service. After you sign in, we send your account identifier to analytics services such as Microsoft Clarity to analyze how the Service is used. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, but some features may not function properly. Clearing your browser data also removes the identifier. The full text and translation of papers loaded to the end in Full-text Analysis are kept only in the browser on that device so that they can be reopened there. They are not sent back to the Service's servers, and are deleted when you log out or 30 days after they were kept. If you would like it deleted, please contact us through the inquiry form.

The Service uses Google Analytics, provided by Google, to analyze how the Service is used. We also use Google Ads to measure the effectiveness of advertisements placed on Google Ads. For these purposes, information is sent to Google through the following three routes.

• From your browser to Google Analytics: The URL and title of the page you are viewing, the page you came from, actions such as viewing pages, scrolling and interacting with forms, the type of browser and device, screen size and language, your approximate region, a random identifier stored in your browser (a cookie), and a record of the events "signed up" and "made a purchase". Secret values contained in the URL, such as login information and identifiers for email verification or payment, are removed before sending. The identifier attached to an advertisement link that indicates the type of advertisement is kept. Your IP address is used to determine your approximate region and is not logged or stored in Google Analytics (according to Google).
• From your browser to Google Ads: If you arrive by clicking an advertisement on Google Ads, the identifier of that click is stored in your browser (a cookie). In addition, when you sign up with an email address, the Google tag converts the email address you entered into a form that cannot be reversed (a hash value) within your browser, and then sends it to Google Ads. If we determine that you are accessing from the EU, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, or if we cannot determine your region, the hash value of your email address is not sent.
• From the Service's server to Google Ads: When someone who arrived by clicking an advertisement on Google Ads subscribes to a paid plan, we send the identifier of the advertisement click, the date and time of the subscription, the amount and currency of the first payment, an irreversible identifier derived from the account, and the hash value of the email address. If, at the time of subscribing, we determine that you are accessing from the EU, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, or if we cannot determine your region, the hash value of your email address is not sent.
• Information not sent: We do not send your name, your email address before it is converted into a hash value, payment information such as credit card details, search keywords, or AI chat input. The record of "made a purchase" sent to Google Analytics does not include the amount.
• Recipient: Google LLC (United States)
• Purpose of use: To analyze how the Service is used and use the results to improve it. Also, to have Google match whether people who arrived through an advertisement placed on Google Ads went on to sign up or subscribe to a paid plan, and to confirm the effectiveness of the advertisement.

Of Google's advertising features, the Service does not use the following: remarketing (a mechanism for showing ads later to people who have visited the site), ad personalization (showing ads that match a user's interests), Customer Match (a feature that uses email addresses to decide who is shown ads), Google signals (a feature that links data to people signed in to a Google Account), and the User-ID of Google Analytics (a feature that sends the identifier of an account on the Service).

You can stop the sending of information from your browser to Google in the following ways. Sending from the Service's server cannot be stopped through your browser settings.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Users' personal information is retained for the period necessary to provide the Service. When an account is deleted, associated personal information will be deleted within a reasonable period. However, information that is required by law to be retained will be kept for the prescribed period.

Search queries are retained for a certain period for service improvement and usage analysis. Search history is deleted when the account is deleted.

Records of your consent to receive announcement emails (date and time, method, and the notice text displayed) are retained for three years as evidence of consent under the Act on Regulation of Transmission of Specified Electronic Mail. These records are kept until the retention period expires even if you delete your account.

8. Security Measures

We implement the following security measures to prevent leakage, loss, and corruption of personal information.

• Communication Encryption: All communications are encrypted via SSL/TLS
• Non-Retention of Payment Information: Credit card information is not stored on our servers; processing is delegated to the payment service provider (Stripe)
• Access Control: Access to personal information is limited to the scope necessary for business operations
• Regular Reviews: Security measures are regularly reviewed and improved as necessary

However, we cannot guarantee complete security on the Internet.

9. User Rights and Disclosure Procedures

Users have the following rights.

• Request for disclosure of personal information
• Correction, addition, or deletion of personal information
• Suspension or erasure of personal information usage
• Objection to the processing of personal information

When we change the purpose of use, we will do so within a scope reasonably related to the original purpose of use. When the purpose of use is changed, we will notify users through posting on the Service or by email.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users on the Service when significant changes are made.
